Independent Living Advice

Helping you live well

Occupational Therapy looks at what matters to you, not what is wrong with you. Occupations are everything you do, from brushing your teeth, to toileting, to getting in and out of bed to actually getting out the door and driving to work. Occupations matter.

Occupational Therapy breaks down tasks using activity analysis and uses grading techniques, pacing and adaption advice to make life that bit easier.

As an occupational therapist, I will assess your activity (what matters to you most and gives you life!) and help you remain or regain your independence and stay safe. Together, we can set realistic goals and interventions. I may make recommendations to adapt the environment, introduce compensatory equipment, teach you new skills or help to reacquire old skills; all to make those every day tasks that bit easier, safer, and more enjoyable.

Falls Prevention

Have you or a loved one had a few falls recently? I can come and assess your home and make recommendations to help minimise risk of falls.

Dementia

Are you concerned for a loved one living with dementia but want to help them remain safe and independent at home for as long as possible? I can help set goals and recommend some tips and safety equipment to implement around the home to help keep them safe and you at ease.

Rehab

Recovering from an injury, fracture or fall? Occupational Therapy is what you need to help you during your period of recovery whilst you may have some limitations. I can recommend tools and equipment to support you regain independence during your activities of daily living, leisure, sport and even returning to work.

Pain and Fatigue Management

That nagging pain keeping you from cooking your dinner? That overwhelming fatigue preventing you from showering? Occupational Therapy can offer advice and tools to carry on with these tasks that matter to you, whilst managing your pain and fatigue.

House Adaptations

Whether you're looking for a wet room or a more functional kitchen, bathroom, cloakroom or garden, I can offer advice on where best to position items and  even order specific equipment for you. I can also make recommendations and assess for stairlifts, ramps, rails, banisters, seating and pressure relief.

Equipment Provision

Every person is different, that's why I love to assess every person individually. I believe in client-centred care and tailor my assessments, interventions and equipment provision to each person's individual needs.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch to see if there's anything I can recommend for you to help make life that bit easier.
